I have a 24 CD collection of data that came with Family Tree Maker 8.0. How can I access that data without installing the FTM 8.0 software? I have FTM 2012 installed.

I use Roots Magic, so I haven't a clue. Why don't you put in a CD and see what happens? It will either open up or tell you it can't. Normally I'd let an FTM user answer you, but your question has been here for an hour.

You can view the Family Tree Maker CDs with any version of the program up to version 16. I put a link to the instruction in the source below. Load the CD in the computer then click the CD icon on the top of Family Tree Maker program.



If you have any version of Windows below Vista you can download an archive viewer that runs separate from FTM the free program is at that link also. If you have Windows Vista, 7, or 8 you are left out in the cold by FTM and Ancestry.com.
