You'd do better to list all of your brothers, sisters and first cousins in boxes at the bottom first, so you know how wide a piece of paper to create out of ordinary paper and tape.

Then draw a short line up from each child box to horizontal lines that will stretch from the oldest child in each family to the youngest.

Draw another line up from the center of each of those horizontal lines to a box with the parent. (You will need two trees, one for your grandparents Jones, one for your grandparents Smith.)

On the Smith tree, have that second line up end in a box with the adult Smith child in it; then draw a box next to it, draw a line from it to the adult Smith child, put their spouse in it. Draw a line up from the Smith child to a second horizontal line that stretches across all of the Smith adult children, and a line in the middle of it up to the Smith grandparents.

There are plenty of charts and forms on here called pedigree sheets or extended family trees that are free to download so you can print out http://familytimeline.webs.com/apps/links/

in the section General Family History Resources first link

if you start with your grandparents ......grandfather m ( married grandmother (using her maiden name)

under each name put b ( birth and date/place) d ( death date and place) and a vertical line joined to a horizontal line along that line you draw a vertical lin to each child add who they married using the maiden name of any women.... then a vertical line joined to a horizontal line and along that line a vertical line down to each of their children ( this would be where your name is written and any siblings you have and where your cousins are written from your parent siblins ( your aunts and uncles) this will only show either your paternal side you then need to do another for you maternal side

It sounds difficult, but once you start making it it's very simple. :)

First start off with your grandparents, then draw a branch from your grandparents to your parents, and then your parents to you and your siblings.

Uncles and Aunts go under grandparents because they are siblings of your parents and offspring of your grandparents. And first cousins branch off of your aunts and uncles, because they are their offspring.

:)
