(yes..you can too do this)...
You could be looking for persons that don't exist. When hitting a brick wall, my first question is "what is your source". You say "listed in my book" that suggests that you have oral history with no document. So, back track to where you DO HAVE document.
Looks like you posted this a few years back. Ted tried to work it. No break. OK.. so I spot a John L Hillard with wife Martha in Indiana in 1900. You may need to match this couple to a child of theirs which you know.

go to the original (its hard to read) but it shows this John born Ohio. Not Kentucky or Indiana. He and Martha have been married 33 yrs, ie about 1867.
If I have the right John L.. here he is in 1850 (he seems to be in the neighborhood of your other peeps.)

again, it has the original for you to see. I don't know the heads of house.. but looks like the parents here are Joseph and Delia.
Because Delia and the head of house are both born in the same state, he ranks as possible her father. I also see spelling as Hilliard (which is not proof of anything except to keep an open mind).
Before going any further.. I am gonna stop and have you VALIDATE details about John, ie his death date, name of his wife, name of their child that you are linking to.
Friendly tip for the night.. I suspect you are working from your "book" and never built the foundation of original documents. One of those would be birth/death records for John. What I am working with right now, is the locality (which I admit, comes from working with you on priors), and the 1900 census that conflicts with your statements. So, with name of their child.. you can review your sources, then see if I have the right couple in 1900.
Using the names you gave of George and Visa.. they show up NOWHERE in any documentation or census. I suspect they are not right. Educated guess.
edit
Delia Hillard/ Hilliard shows on 1880 familysearch as mother in law in someones' home. But I don't have ancestry.com so I can't pull the full entry. It could match a married daughter to connect her to earlier.

John L. with obit.. hope is right guy... then, run all Hilliards in that cemetery and Joseph comes up, d'd 1861.
edit
more.. John Hillard, b 1847 is not the father of Rebecca Hillard Long. Here is her findagrave...

as posted in another answer for this Rebecca... SHE is the daughter of John Hillard and Catherine, who were in Kentucky. I believe that was Catherine Clark.
whether THAT John's parents were George and Visa Hooper.. not clear on this.

DICEY HOOPER md 1st Nathaniel Oldham then md 2nd George Hillard in 1856.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/V653-PJV
son John OLDHAM shows in her home in 1850, age 2... meaning, he is not the son of George Hillard at all, but took that name.
