One thing I have learned about life is that just because your family tree says one thing, it doesn't mean you have to be the same thing too. For instance, if your entire family was super religious, and you didn't believe the same way, then you shouldn't be forced to. I don't know how to categorize gypsy's but I see it as a state of mind rather than a practice. I am sure both are true. It's all about how you take it. If you want do some research on gypsy's in the past vs. ones in modern times, and make up your own mind.

No you are not a Gypsy, it means that your ancestors were and that at some point one of your ancestors left the family. One that bond was broken the Gypsy culture could not be restablished.

Gypsy is a type of culture not an ethnicirty or a race..

No. You gave up all rights to claiming the title of gypsy when you lived in a house. Your gadge now. I'm betting you don't speak romani do you? Also Roma blood is passed through the father so if your dad's not Roma then neither are you. You can't be a house dweller and Rom it doesn't work like that.

I'm romani,I move every fortnight, live in a horse drawn wagon, hunt breakfast (sometimes). That's what being Roma is. You can claim your ancestry by marrying back into our culture but being Rom isn't just blood,it's a way of life.

If all 32 of your GGG grandparents were, yes. If not, you're a mix, with some Gypsy heritage. Exactly how much depends on how many of them were Gypsy.

I heard Romany identity is passed down the direct paternal line.In a mixed marriage a person born to a Romany (Gypsy) father and non-Romany mother is a Romany person

My family comes from Ireland, Britain, Scotland, Germany, and I'm part Cherokee Indian.

Does that mean I'm a Iri-Brit-Scot-Germo-kee? No I say!

It just means that's where you come from. You define you.

Gypsies are Indians who settled all over Europe and are greatly despised by Europeans.
